12 years after Sosoliso plane crash, Kechi the survivor gets standing ovation on America’s Got Talent
America’s Got Talent contestant Kechi Okwuchi is an inspiration to the world.
Kechi survived the 2005 Sosoliso Airlines plane crash in Nigeria that took the lives of 107 people, including her close friend who was sitting next to her on that plane.
She was one of the two people who survived the crash.
Before singing her version of Ed Sheeran`s ‘Thinking out Loud’, she narrated to the judges and audience how her love for singing began.
‘I want to share my voice with America got talent. I was in a plane crash when I was 16 years old, which took the life of 107 out of 109, which left two survivors. I was one of the two survivors.’
Responding to Simeon Conwell`s question on how she has managed to deal with the trauma, she said, ‘Lying down in the hospital bed with bandages from head to foot, music was my escape and that’s why it means so much to me.’
