Don’t ridicule me, Atiku’s wife tells lawyer
The wife of a former Nigeria’s Vice-President, Mrs. Titi Atiku, told a lawyer on Tuesday not to ridicule her.
Atike appeared on Tuesday before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja as a witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged N918m fraud.
The defendants in the case are an ex-governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Asikakabasi Jacobs, Abdulmalik Ibrahim and Dana Motors Nigeria Limited.
The defendants are being prosecuted by the EFCC for allegedly defrauding a company THA Shipping Maritime Services Ltd, where Titi had a share.
While being cross-examined on Tuesday by the defence counsel, Mr. Charles Musa, Atiku had been asked if she would describe herself as a reliable person, after using different names on documents tendered to the court to prove her case.
A displeased Atiku said, “I will not agree with you, I am Florence, I’m Doregos, I’m Titi, I’m Amina, I bear all the names. You cannot come and ridicule me here; I will not have you do that to me! These two gentlemen defrauded me and sold my property.”
Earlier at the proceedings, the 3rddefendant, who was not represented by any lawyer, told the court that he wanted to change his counsel because he suspected that his counsel had a cordial relationship with Atiku or had been bought by her.
